Town trash pickup to begin this week
With the Thursday, April 1, launch of ABC Disposal Inc.’s curbside trash pickup on the horizon, the Board of Selectmen once again asked Wareham residents for patience.
During the March 30 Board of Selectmen meeting, Town Administrator Derek Sullivan said that an updated trash pickup schedule — which is based on what streets residents live on — was shared on the town’s website on March 29.
Sullivan explained that the updated schedule indicates how longer streets such as Main Street and Onset Avenue will be broken up with regards to when their trash days will be. He said the far-right column of the spreadsheet indicates where the streets are divided.
“I had a lot of inquiries about that,” said Selectmen Peter Teitelbaum.
He also encouraged people to be patient as things are set in motion.
“If you know that your trash is supposed to be out on Thursday and you put it out and it doesn’t get picked up, give us a call,” Teitelbaum said. “Let us know, we’ll let them know and we’ll get it fixed. We just ask you to be patient.”
Sullivan reminded everyone that Friday, April 2, is Good Friday, which is a contractual holiday. As a result, the transfer station will be closed Friday.
Sullivan also encouraged anyone who needs “reasonable accommodations” and hasn’t had a request met already should email him directly at dsullivan@wareham.ma.us.
