Town's revenue up this year
Wareham's revenue is up by approximately 9 percent this fiscal year, and expenditures have decreased by about 4 percent, Town Administrator Mark Andrews reported at Tuesday's Board of Selectmen meeting.
Andrews attributed the jump in revenue to increased applications for various town-issued permits. He said that permits issued by the Health Department were up about 7 percent over that department's budgeted projection.
Andrews said the drop in expenditures is a result of decreased spending on legal services and of employees spending conservatively on supplies. Additionally, the town's contribution to employees' retirement was paid in full at the beginning of the fiscal year, which saved the town 5 percent on the year's retirement contribution.
The fiscal year started on July 1. It ends on June 30, 2011.
