Update: Power restored to transfer station, roadways now open

Power has been restored to the transfer station and Cranberry Highway has been reopened after high winds downed a telephone pole Friday, Dec. 19.
As of 8:28 p.m. Friday, Eversource is reporting 52 households are still without power with crews working into the evening to restore power.
According to Wareham Emergency Management Director Calib LaRue, Municipal Maintenance is going to test the transfer station Saturday, Dec. 20 to see if it can reopen and accept trash.
High winds during the day closed Cranberry Highway from 2200 Cranberry Highway up to Doty Street. The height of the power outages came during Friday afternoon when Eversource reported 1,401 households in town, mostly near the Shangrila neighborhood, had lost power.
