Two arrested following Middle School break-in

The Wareham Police Department arrested and charged two young adults after discovering a broken window at the Wareham Middle School. 

Jacob Silva, 18, of Wareham and Aubrey Ferreira, 19, of New Bedford were charged with breaking and entering, malicious destruction of property under $1,200 and larceny. 

The Police Department responded to an alarm at the Middle School in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, Aug. 6 for an alarm activation. 

Officers discovered a broken window while checking the school. After reviewing security footage, officers observed two people entering the school through the broken window. 

The Police Department identified Silva and Ferreira as the people on the security footage, and determined that they had stolen a MacBook laptop, according to the Police Department. 

Silva and Ferreira were found by police later in the day on the school property and were placed in custody without incident. Detectives located the MacBook at Silva’s residence in Wareham, and it was returned to the Wareham School Department, according to the Police Department. 

Silva and Ferreira were arraigned at the Wareham 4th District Court on Wednesday, Aug. 7. 

Chief Walter Correia applauded the collaborative effort between the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and the Wareham Shool Department in apprehending the suspects and recovering the stolen property.
