Two summoned for selling alcohol to minors

The Wareham Police are summoning two people to court for selling alcohol to minors at two Wareham liquor stores.

A Wareham Police detective saw a man he knew was not 21 years of age enter the Liquor Locker package store on Cranberry Highway on Thursday, August 15, at about 7 p.m.

Officers observed the man purchasing a bottle of alcohol and stopped him a few minutes later to seize the liquor. The man, a 20-year-old Brockton resident, will be summoned to court for being a minor in possession of alcohol.

The detective went back to the store and identified the employee who sold the liquor. Anthony Rose, 38, of East Wareham, will be summoned to court for selling liquor to a person under 21, according to Acting Police Chief John A. Walcek.

Wareham police conducted a similar investigation on July 23. 

Another detective observed a woman walk out of the Wareham Liquors package store on Main Street with a bag containing a six-pack of beer. The detective knew she was not 21 years old, and confronted her and confiscated the alcohol. 

After a brief investigation, the clerk at the store, Dipenkumar Patel, 31, of Wareham, is being summoned to Wareham District Court for selling liquor to a person under 21. The 20-year-old Wareham resident is being summoned for being a minor in possession of alcohol.
