UPDATE: Fire that destroyed camper on Cranberry Lane deemed suspicious
A fire on Cranberry Lane that caused $3,000 of property loss to a camper Wednesday has been deemed suspicious, according to Assistant Chief John Kelley of the Wareham Fire Department.
"The camper didn't have any power, or anything like that, so we are leaning towards suspicious," Kelley said.
The fire was reported, the department said, at 4:31 p.m., at a bog just off 7 Cranberry Ln. in a camper belonging to Michele Traver. The camper was unoccupied at the time of the fire, but the department reported a “total fire loss” of the 25-foot camper.
The department said there were 10 firefighters on scene, and three total fire vehicles, including two brush breakers.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by both the Wareham Fire Department and the Wareham Police Department, the department said.
Wareham Week will continue to update this story, as more information becomes available.
