Update: Woman hospitalized in accident, minor driving without license
A Wareham woman was seriously injured in a three-car crash at the intersection of Route 6 and Point Road shortly before 3 p.m. on Monday. Marion Police say a 16-year-old driving without a license was also involved in the crash. The cause remains under investigation.
The minor, whose name is not being released, was driving a Mercury Mountaineer with only a learner's permit. He did not have anyone else in the vehicle with him and was driving the family car without permission, according to police.
He will be summonsed to court for unlicensed operation and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He reportedly declined treatment at the scene.
The male driver of the third vehicle, a GMC Sierra truck, has been identified as 24-year-old Christopher Nye of Marion. He was not injured in the accident.
Wareham Police provided additional assistance at the scene.
