Veterans served Thanksgiving meals

The Onset Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ladies Auxiliary hosted their 39th annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday afternoon, feeding dozens of veterans, homeless individuals, and anyone in need.
"We've expanded it to include the elderly and the poor and anyone who needs it," said John Roderick, the post's commander. "We serve around 150 people. It's just a way of giving back to the community."
On the menu was the "whole nine yards," according to Roderick: jag, corn, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, turkey, stuffing and dinner rolls.
Volunteers began cooking at 6:30 a.m. at the Dudley L. Brown VFW on Onset Avenue and food was served just after noon.
