Vikings see narrow loss in Cranberry Bowl
Bob Lomp and his team lost their first game of the season, but Wareham's new head coach only had positive things to say.
On Friday, the Vikings had a narrow 28-21 loss against rival Old Rochester Regional High School in a game played on the Bulldogs' home turf.
“I'm proud of the boys,” said Lomp. “We're going to get better from this.”
Wareham never let ORR get too comfortable, keeping the score close through much of the second half.
That was due in large part to junior halfback Isaac Nascimento.
“Isaac is the star, but we have a nice supporting cast around him,” said the head coach.
He said the team has improved throughout the preseason and that will continue throughout the fall.
“We just have to improve on our blocking,” said Lomp. “The kids have to get more game experience, more live reps at it.”
Upbeat with how the team performed in the season opener, Lomp is looking forward to next week's game at Bourne as well as the season ahead.
“We’re looking to finish strong here at the end,” he said.
