Virginia Pruchnik, 86, dietitian

Virginia (Carman) Pruchnik, 86, of Marion, died Feb. 26 in Sippican Healthcare Center. She was the widow of the late Peter P. Pruchnik and the daughter of the late Frank and Ida (Westgate) Carmen.

She was born in Wareham and lived in Marion for many years. Mrs. Pruchnik worked as a dietitian at Tobey Hospital for many years before retiring.

Survivors include two daughters, Eileen Haley, of Wareham, and Katherine Thompson, of Marion; two sons, Frank Pruchnik, of Rochester, and Peter Pruchnik, of FL; two sisters, Dorothy Waugh and Frances Shuhart, both of FL; a brother, Ira Carmen, of Wareham; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. A son, John Roman Pruchnik, died in 1978. Mrs. Pruchnik was the sister of the late Walton Carman.

 

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., (Rte. 28), Wareham. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Marion.
