Walter C. Baptiste, 78, of Wareham, died July 15, 2022 at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Deborah J. (Howes) Baptiste and the son of the late Walter and Noella (Cote) Baptiste.

He was born in Cambridge and lived in Boston and Woonsocket, RI before moving to Wareham several years ago.

Mr. Baptiste worked as a truck driver for Lindenmeyr Munroe Company in Franklin for 20 years before retiring. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 25.

He enjoyed fishing and working on cars.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah J. Baptiste of Wareham; his children, Heidi Offley of Taunton, Tanya Baptiste Rodriguez of New Bedford, Jowanna White of Somerville, Walter Baptiste of Fall River and Jason Baptiste of Woonsocket, RI; his brother, Joseph Baptiste and his wife, Arlene of Rehoboth; his sister, Frances Stroggins of Middleboro; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was the father of the late Juanita Baptiste and Janice Perito.

Visiting hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
