Wareham business owner donates 100 tickets for students to see ‘Scrooge’

The owner of Lindsey’s Family Restaurant in East Wareham spread some early Christmas cheer to middle school students this season with a donation of 100 tickets to see a live play at the Alley Theatre in Middleborough.

This is the second year that Cheri Lindsey has purchased tickets for one hundred students to go and see a live play. Last year, she sent the entire Wareham Middle School Drama Club to see ‘Elf Jr.’ after being approached about a possible sponsorship for the field trip.

Lindsey’s donation this year took students on a field trip to see ‘Scrooge.’

Both shows were produced by The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts at The Alley Theatre in Middleborough where Lindsey’s daughter, Debi, often performed growing up.

Years after Debi’s graduation, Lindsey has continued to support students at The Burt Wood School.

“In an age when students spend a lot of time with their eyes focused on their smart phones, it warmed my heart to see an audience filled with students enjoying an evening out (unplugged) with their friends,” said Scrooge producer Lorna Brunelle. “We are grateful to Cheri for sharing this unforgettable holiday experience.”

In addition to her work with the The Burt Wood School and Wareham’s Drama Club, Lindsey also sponsors scholarships for local students to pursue learning opportunities in the arts and special education.
