The Wareham-New Bedford Lodge of Elks No. 73 will host a Hoop Shoot basketball free throw contest on Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Gleason Family YMCA, located at 33 Charge Pond Road. 

Registration will be held at the YMCA the day of the event at 11 a.m. along with a warm-up session. The competition will follow at 11:30 a.m.

The contest is open to both boys and girls who are at least 8 years old and no older than 13 as of April 1, 2019. There is no entry fee.

Winning contestants will have a chance to advance through district, state, regional, and national free throw competitions. The Elks will help to sponsor contestants and their families at every level of competition as they advance.

One boy and one girl from each division will ultimately win a national title and receive a Getty Powell Award.
