Wareham EMS treats 4-year-old found face down in water

Wareham first responders treated a 4-year-old boy who was found face down at a swimming spot inside the Cape Cod Maple Park Campground on Glen Charlie Road Thursday evening.

According to initial emergency broadcasts, Wareham Police, Firefighters and EMS were on the scene at approximately 5:30 p.m.

The victim’s father pulled him from the water before officials got there. It's unknown how long he was submerged.

Emergency broadcasts stated the boy was semi-conscious when first responders arrived and was “going unresponsive” while being transported to Tobey Hospital for treatment.

The boy’s status is currently unknown. Southcoast Health officials are unable to release any information regarding the boy due to privacy laws.
