Wareham Fire Chief out on injury
Wareham Fire Chief John Kelley is out on injury for the second time this year.
Serving as Acting Chief will be current Assistant Chief, Mark Rogers, who stepped into the role Thursday, Dec. 4, presenting the chief’s report at the Wareham Fire District Prudential Committee.
Rogers has been with the fire department for 28 years and said that stepping into the role was going to be, "different." According to Rogers, Assistant Chief Robert Haskell will serve as Acting Chief when he returns from vacation.
Kelley had been out for most of 2025 due to an injury he sustained on a mutual aid call. Kelley was away from the department from Jan. 9 until his return on Aug. 11.
The extent of the injury and date of Kelley's return is unknown at this time.
