Wareham Fire District readies for annual meeting, elections

Apr 5, 2010

Just when you thought political season was over, the Wareham Fire District, which includes the Wareham Fire Department and Wareham Water Department, will host a candidate's night on Wednesday at the district headquarters for their upcoming election. Ted DuMoulin will moderate the event.

Three candidates are seeking two open seats on the Prudential Committee, the five-member board that oversees the district operations. Incumbents George Barrett and Margaret Ishihara are being challenged by John Connolly, Jr. The terms are both for three years.

Two water commissioners are seeking reelection unopposed. Edward Tamagini, III, is seeking a three-year term, and Theodore Hatch is seeking a two-year term. Clerk and Treasurer Marybeth Fernandes is also seeking reelection for both three-year positions. She is running unopposed.

The district's annual meeting will be held on Monday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the high-school auditorium.

The election will be held at the district office, 2550 Cranberry Highway, on Saturday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Wareham Fire District sets the town's water rates and allocates funds for the fire department.
