Wareham Ford donates 30 turkey dinners to Damien’s Food Pantry

Nov 8, 2018

Wareham Ford dished up turkey and all the fixings for 30 families following a donation to Damien’s Food Pantry before Thanksgiving.

On Nov. 8, dealership employees moved boxes filled with canned goods, stuffing, a fresh pineapple and more from the showroom floor to a Damien’s truck. Thirty turkeys were delivered  from one of the dealer’s vans into the truck.

Wareham Ford General Manager Craig Barrett said this was the first year the business donated to the food pantry, located at 3065 Cranberry Highway.

“We wanted to give back to the community, and we felt Damien’s would help make the biggest difference,” said Barrett. “They’re going to make sure a lot of families have a nice meal this Thanksgiving.”

Barrett said the employees originally planned to only donate the turkeys.

“Once we got going it started to evolve and we realized the turkeys should come with stuffing, potatoes and everything else,” said Barrett.

Damien’s Food Pantry serves about 1,000 people a week, said volunteer Paul LeBeau. During the holidays that number is even higher, he said.

“We certainly appreciate it very much,” said LeBeau about the donation. “This is a huge help for us, especially at this time of year.”
