Wareham fugitive wanted in stabbing arrested in Connecticut
A Wareham man who was wanted in connection to a stabbing last month was arrested as a fugitive in Connecticut on Tuesday, April 8, according to Wareham police.
Connecticut State Police arrested Peter "Bucky" Tavares of West Wareham after receiving information that the man was located at an address on Route 2 in Preston, according to a press release.
Tavares was transported from Norwich Superior Court back to Wareham on Monday, April 14, where Wareham Police Chief Kevin Walsh said via a recent press release that he was to face Assault to Murder charges for his original crime.
Wareham Police issued a warrant for 61-year-old Tavares in connection with a March 5 stabbing that resulted in a Wareham man being airlifted to a Boston hospital.
Forty-four-year-old Anthony Bullock of The Woods at Wareham on Swifts Beach Road was reportedly stabbed three times in the back and once in the leg at about 9:30 Wednesday evening.
Bullock was transported by Wareham Emergency Medical Services to Tobey Hospital then by helicopter to a Boston area hospital for further treatment of his stab wounds. Police described those wounds as non-life-threatening.
