Wareham High School Career Fair on April 26
Wareham High School will be hosting a Career and Vocational Fair on Thursday, April 26 in the Wareham High School gymnasium.
The Career Fair, which is from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., is an informational event for High School sophomores where they can meet with professionals in their careers of interest.
Wareham High School staff will prepare students for the Career Fair by giving them tips on how to present themselves and interview professionals.
Students will also receive a brochure and an interview questionnaire as part of their preparation and will be required to select 10 professionals that they will have 45 minutes to interview during the fair.
After the event, students will complete a Reflection Sheet to be included in their School Wide Comprehensive Portfolio as part of their academic coursework.
Wareham High School anticipates that approximately 200 sophomores will come through the fair between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Volunteers are asked to arrive at Wareham High School by 8:00am to set up. Check-in and a continental breakfast from 8:00 to 8:20 a.m., and a luncheon will also be provided.
The Vocational Fair, which begins at 12:30 p.m., is an opportunity for organizations such as the military, schools, and trade unions to recruit graduating seniors.
Participating students will primarily be seniors that have not made any plans for after graduation.
Students will participate in a mandatory pre-fair workshop covering the focus and goals of the fair, appropriate questions to ask the organizations, appropriate dress, templates for developing resumes, and tips for completing job applications.
After the fair, students will be encouraged to meet with guidance counselors and "CollegeAccess" staff to follow up on any educational or training opportunities that the students would like to pursue.
Individuals, schools, and organizations interested in being a part of these career awareness and educational events can please contact Guidance Chair Steve Goldman at 508-291-3510 ext. 702 or via email at sgoldman@wareham.k12.ma.us.
