Wareham High School club hosts drive to collect bras, feminine hygiene products for homeless women

Dec 1, 2017

The National Organization for Women’s Club (NOW), a new club at Wareham High School, will be holding a drive, “Giving Back (Support)," to donate new and used bras and new feminine hygiene products to homeless women and girls.

There will be a box to drop products off in at the main office of the high school starting next week and up until Dec. 10. On the Dec. 10, the NOW Club will be collecting items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside Wareham High School.

The club is working with Support the Girls, an organization that donates bras and feminine hygiene products to homeless women and girls across the country. Homeless women and girls do not have the means necessary to purchase these items, which can lead to back pain and other problems, so Support the Girls is dedicated to getting these products to these women and girls and helping to restore their dignity. This charity drive is a part of the NOW’s campaign on reproductive rights and justice that began in November and will come to a close following the drive.

The NOW Club was started last year dedicated to promoting gender equality in the Wareham High School and the community and is a part of the National Organization for Women, a grassroots feminist organization that was created in the 1960s.
