Wareham Historical Society to host talk on antique truck industry, Sept.

The Wareham Historical Society will host Colonel Arnold Briggs, USAR retired, former Chief of Staff of the 94th ARCOM on Monday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Methodist Meeting House, 495 Main St. for a discussion on the antique truck industry.
Briggs will present a “Historian of the Industry” award to Wareham’s Howie Smith, a former firefighter, writer and historian known as the “Maxim Guy.” Smith and his father moved a Maxim Motors collection of memorabilia, photos, sales literature and other articles to the American Truck Historical Society’s headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. Briggs is currently involved in preserving antique trucks, especially, Ford's or Power Wagons. He was the former American Truck Historical Society Regional vice president of southern New England.
Refreshments will be served after the program. Admission for nonmembers costs $2.
