Wareham hockey falls to Old Rochester 6-1, Somerset 4-2
The Wareham boys varsity ice hockey team had a tough week: The team fell to Old Rochester on Saturday afternoon by a score of 6-1 and, despite top quality play, they were unable to stop Somerset from a 4-2 victory on Wednesday evening.
The Old Rochester Bulldogs came out firing and grabbed a 1-0 lead just 28 seconds into the first period. They never looked back. Wareham goalie John Colp had a busy day stopping 37 shots but allowing the 6 goals. In all, the Vikings only managed 18 shots on net with one goal by Tony Richard assisted by Curtis Garcia.
Colp had another busy night against the Somerset Blue Raiders, making 43 saves in the game. Viking goals were scored by team Captain Tony Richard and Justin Sumner. Sumner and Co-Captain Curtis Garcia assisted Richard, who then returned the favor for Sumner's goal.
The Vikings next play at Dartmouth on Monday, February 8th.
