Wareham Junior Basketball Association plays championship games
The Wareham Junior Basketball Association wrapped up its 2010-2011 Bobby Thornton Memorial Winter league season on Saturday, March 19, with the group's championship games.
In the Division 3 boys championship game, the J & M Realty Trojans beat the Fan Club Orange 35-29.
Dominic Mello scored 15 points to lead the 4th-seeded Trojans to the title. Justin Lopes finished with 10 points, and Noah Casado added 8 points. Josh Wright chipped in with 2 points.
Seth Andrade powered the Orange offense with 18 points. Jonah Depina scored 5, Matthew Pearle added 4, and Dez Powell hit for 2.
In the Division 2 girls championship, the In Memory of Willie C. Calvin III Lady Bears beat the Gateway Tavern Lady Huskies 17-12.
The Lady Bears got 6 points from Alexys Rose and 4 from Jasmyn Onojiogu to capture the championship. Tiara Duarte and Maggie Robbins each scored 3, and Monique Yancey hit for 1.
Madison Pinkston scored 9 points to lead the Lady Huskies. Blossom Roberge added 2 and Marquise Silva 1.
In the Division 1 girls championship game, Carolee's Comedy Corner Liberty defeated the BBL Builders Silver Stars, 27-19.
Cheyenne Andrews score 21 points to lead the Liberty. Kia Fernandes, Brianna Tavares and Shaelyn Andrews all chipped in with 2 points apiece.
The Silver Stars got 8 points from Tieyanna Yancey and 6 from Stephanie Bunshaft. Brianna Williams added 3 and Alexis Carmo 2.
For the Division 1 boys championship, the Marc Anthony's Spurs beat the Tom Barboza Excavating Cavaliers, 60- 27.
Michael Labonte led the Spurs to their perfect 12-0 season by single-handedly outscoring the entire Cavaliers team, finishing with 31 points. Mathieu Griggs scored 9, and Kobe Andrade had 8. Also scoring for the Spurs were Jamiell Martin (5), Alexx Rezendes (3) and Dominic Bottino (2).
Xavier Foggie and James Cronan scored 10 points apiece to pace the Cavaliers. Durrell Barros added 4, Cory Barrows 2, and Josh Onojiogu 1.
