Wareham Library benefits from metal, hardcore band performance

Seven musical acts made some noise to benefit the Wareham Free Library on Friday night.

Proceeds from the concert, held in the First Congregational Church’s Fellowship Hall, will be donated to the library, which has seen services slashed in recent years due to budget cuts.

Wareham resident Tom Cifello, 20, organized the concert after he found similar success at previous shows.

“The library was always there for me when I was a kid,” he said. “The town isn’t giving it any support.”

A co-founder of Supermoon Records, a local record label, Cifello said the show featured a mixed bill, with two metal acts, an indie-style band, an experimental hardcore band and a hip hop artist.

Cifello said he hoped to raise $500 for the library, and at the start of the show 103 people had responded on the event’s Facebook page. However, Cifello estimated that between 70 to 80 people would arrive.
