Wareham man killed in Raynham car crash

State Troopers are investigating whether a suspected drunk driver may have played a role in a car crash that killed a 21-year-old Wareham man Tuesday night.

The Massachusetts State Police said Kristian Joel Rose Jr., 21 of Wareham, was headed southbound on Interstate 495 in Raynham just before 7 p.m. when he lost control of his 2004 Isuzu Rodeo.

According to police, the vehicle went off the roadway to the left, re-entered the road, and rolled over several times before coming to a stop in the right-hand travel lane.

Police said Rose was ejected in the crash and suffered serious injuries. He was transported to Morton Hospital in Taunton where he later died.

Witnesses told investigating troopers that a silver pick-up truck appeared to be following the Rodeo aggressively in the moments before the vehicle swerved off the roadway. Troopers later located the truck, a 2006 Chevrolet, in Halifax and determined its driver, Michael R. Davis, 48, was impaired, according to police.

Davis was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to police.

The investigation into whether Davis played a role in the crash is ongoing. Davis has not been charged in connection with the crash, police said.

Rose was the only person harmed in the single-car accident and was driving alone at the time of the crash.
