Wareham man one of two charged with car theft
A 32-year-old Wareham man was one of two nabbed in connection with a stolen rental car on Dec. 21, according to a Taunton Police Department report.
In the police report, Patrolman John Peterson said he stopped the duo around 6 p.m., after the license on the grey Toyota Camry they were driving registered as stolen. He said the Wareham man, identified later during booking as Damen Gonzales, handed him a Rhode Island license bearing the name Abdullah Alkasim. The woman, who was later identified as Danielle Victorino, of Taunton, gave a Massachusetts identification card that said she was Samantha Victorino.
Peterson said the two made various claims about Victorino’s sister giving them the car, but could not provide any rental paperwork for it. He said when another officer arrived on the scene to assist, it was discovered that not only was the Alkasim license suspended, but the two had several I.D.s and wallets in the car that did not belong to them.
Peterson said when a check was run on the pair, three outstanding warrants came up on Victorino, and five came up on Gonzales. He said once they were confronted, they admitted their true identities.
Police said Gonzales was charged with providing a false name and failure to identify himself; operating a vehicle under suspension; receiving a stolen vehicle; and his five outstanding warrants. Victorino was charged with receiving a stolen vehicle; providing a false name and social security number after arrest; and her three outstanding warrants.
