Wareham man pleads not guilty to child rape
A Brockton Superior Court judge on Wednesday ordered a West Wareham man charged with raping a minor be held on $10,000 cash bail.
According to a Plymouth County District Attorney office spokeswoman, David Gendron, 65, of 11 Gault Road plead not guilty to four counts of aggravated rape of a child and four counts of indecent assault and battery on a child younger than 14. Beth Stone, spokeswoman for District Attorney Timothy Cruz, said the alleged incidents occurred in Wareham. Gendron was indicted on March 29.
Stone said the prosecution requested a $50,000 cash bail, that Gendron have no contact with the victim and all children younger than 16, surrender his passport and wear a GPS monitoring bracelet.
Gendron’s defense attorney Ian Keefe requested the $10,000 bail and that Gendron be allowed supervised visits with his grandchildren.
Stone said Gendron agreed to surrender his passport.
Brockton Superior Court Judge Thomas McGuire ordered Gendron to not contact the victim or her family and to stay away from all children under 16. The judge allowed Gendron to visit his grandchildren under supervision and did not require him to wear a GPS bracelet.
Gendron will be back court on Aug. 9 for a pre-trial conference. A pre-trial hearing is set for Oct. 12 in Brockton Superior Court, Stone said.
