Two Wareham marathoners raising money to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston will host a “Cocktails for a Cure” fundraiser on Saturday, March 2 at Salerno’s Function Hall, 196 Onset Ave.

Elizabeth Jean Donahue and Kristen Rumbolt Vicino, both Wareham High School graduates from the Class of 2001, are looking to raise a total of $20,000 before the Boston Marathon this April.

Donahue will be running in honor of her cousin, Anthony P. Hathaway, who lost his battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of eleven. Vicino will be running in support of Madelyn Alexander, the five-year-old daughter of Wareham High School classmate, Dan Alexander, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2016 and is currently undergoing treatment at Dana-Farber.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. and feature hors d’oeuvres, dancing and a silent auction for a variety of prizes including Red Sox tickets.

The suggested donation is $25 per person and tickets can be reserved by contacting Elizabeth Donahue at donahuee@gmail.com or Kristen Vicino at kristen.vicino@gmail.com.

Tickets should be reserved before Feb. 26. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door.

For more information, call Jane Donahue at 508-846-9596.

Donations may also be made online at www.danafarber.jimmyfund.org/goto/LizzieD or www.danafarber.jimmyfund.org/goto/KristenVicino.
