Wareham officials urge caution during flash freeze

Officials at the Wareham Department of Natural Resources are urging residents to use extreme caution when traveling as a flash freeze sweeps over all of Southeastern New England.

Temperatures are expected to drop down below 20 degrees Fahrenheit tonight with roads and other surfaces developing a slick layer of ice. According to reports, wind chills as low as negative 30 degrees Fahrenheit are also anticipated.

According to the National Weather Service, the cold spell will persist into Monday, Jan. 21 with the flash freeze warning in place until Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m.

“Please use extreme caution tonight if you are out and about!” officials from the Wareham Department of Natural Resources said in a Facebook post, sharing a map of the worst affected areas.
