Wareham High School senior Grace Brogioli has been selected as the Wareham Oyster Festival’s first annual scholarship winner.

Brogioli will receive a $1,000 scholarship, according to a press release from the Wareham Oyster Festival Inc. Scholarship Committee. In the fall, she plans to attend Fairfield University in Connecticut as an environmental science major. 

Before it was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Wareham Oyster Festival was a yearly event that typically brought thousands of people to downtown Wareham. The festival promotes the shellfish industry and educates people about marine life and ecosystems. The next festival is expected to take place in 2022, on Memorial Day weekend.
