Wareham pastor, homeless advocate leaving for New Hampshire

Nov 26, 2018

Pastor David Shaw, a strong advocate for Wareham’s homeless, is leaving the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene after nearly two decades.

Shaw is the Wareham church’s lead pastor and has accepted the same assignment at the New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene in Loudoun, New Hampshire. Shaw’s wife, Lynn,  is a pastor at the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene and will be leaving for New Hampshire as well.

The public is invited to a farewell service for the Shaw’s. The service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 9:30 a.m. The Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene is located at 6 Rogers Ave.

Shaw arrived in Wareham 17 years ago. He played a crucial role in developing the town’s “Nights of Hospitality” program. A collaboration between several different churches, the program provides shelter and food for the town’s homeless during winter.

Shaw has served as chairman of the board for a Wareham-based nonprofit that provides services to the homeless and near-homeless, known as Turning Point. He is also involved with Father Bill’s & MainSpring, a Brockton-based homeless advocacy group.
