Team Marruci New England, a 13U baseball team that includes players and coaches from Wareham, earned a World Series Championship at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware this month.

Every year, 13U baseball teams from across the East Coast that qualify compete in the series.

In addition to Wareham residents Connor Reidy and Riley Thornell, the team had players from New Hampshire to Salem and Worcester to Cape Cod. Reidy batted .600 for the tournament and played great defense at shortstop. Thornell belted four home runs and had 10 RBI's through the six games.

Wareham residents Chris Thornell, head coach and Riley’s father, and Jay Reidy, assistant coach and Connor’s father, guided the team to the tournament.
