Wareham Police arrest 2 on Aug. 18, 1 for active warrants the other for OUI

Wareham Police arrested two men on Saturday, Aug. 18. One had a warrant for his arrest was found hiding in a kitchen cabinet and another was charged with OUI after he allegedly hit a gate on Mosquito Dam Road.

At approximately 9 a.m., Officers Christopher Smith and Richard Robidoux arrested Xavier Hernandez, 18, of Wareham, at 394 Main St. Police said Hernandez had three active warrants for his arrest and the officers located him hiding in a kitchen cabinet. He is scheduled to appear in Wareham District Court.

Later, at about 11:45 p.m., officers responded to a report that a car struck a gate on Mosquito Dam Road. At the scene, officers discovered a car with heavy front end damage. The uninjured operator of the car, Brian Rockwood, 39, of Wareham, was then arrested by Officers Ryan Gomes and Christopher Smith after an on-scene investigation. Rockwood was charged with  operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
