Wareham Police end car chase, State Police investigate

Feb 24, 2012

A driver led State Police on a chase on Route 195 eastbound in Marion on February 22, reaching speeds up to 95 miles per hour, according to police.

Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Bourne attempted to stop the vehicle around 2:05 p.m., but  the driver ignored the cruiser’s lights and siren and began to speed up, according to State Police.

During the chase, "white objects were thrown from the vehicle until the vehicle exited on Route 105 in Marion," according to a police statement.

The pursuit  "was terminated per State Police policy in regard to public safety," according to police.

Wareham Police stopped the vehicle shortly after the incident. Troopers questioned the operator and determined that the driver was not the same person who fled the initial stop, according to police.

The vehicle was towed. Troopers are continuing to investigate.
