Wareham police officer injured in ATV accident
Wareham Police Officer Lindsey Vermette, 25, was injured in an ATV accident while riding in Jericho Mountain State Park in Berlin, N.H. on Saturday, Oct.19.
Vermette was pinned beneath the vehicle after rolling it on a “particularly rocky” section of the Alpha Trail, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
Vermette’s riding companions lifted the ATV and called 911 before driving her to a waiting ambulance, officials said. New Hampshire officials described her as an experienced rider and said she was wearing appropriate safety gear, including a helmet and goggles.
Rescue personnel transported Vermette to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, N.H. for treatment. Officials did not specify her injuries.
Vermette joined the police force last year after graduating from the Boylston Police Academy in March 2023.
The newest officer at the time, Vermette told Wareham Week last year she was looking forward to helping local residents and creating positive perspectives of police.
