Wareham to receive $6,300 cultural grant
Senate President Pro Tempore Marc R. Pacheco (D-Taunton) announced that the Massachusetts Cultural Council has approved $74,300 in funding for local cultural councils in the 1st Plymouth and Bristol district.
Wareham will receive $6,300 in funds. These funds support a broad range of cultural activities that benefit local residents while supporting jobs in the nonprofit cultural sector.
In July, the legislature voted overwhelmingly to override a gubernatorial veto and restore the Cultural Council’s budget to $14 million. Local cultural councils make up the largest public grassroots arts network in the nation. They provide funding to every city and town in Massachusetts through the efforts of more than 2,300 volunteers. The councils support local arts and history, fund school field trips and sponsor local concerts and exhibitions.
