Wareham resident sentenced to prison for dealing fentanyl that killed one man
A Wareham resident was sentenced to over seven years in prison for selling fentanyl to a 42-year-old man who died of an overdose.
Troy Jones, 40, was sentenced to 92 months in prison and three years of supervised release Wednesday, Dec. 11. Jones also has to pay $7,896 in restitution to the family for funeral expenses.
In August 2024, Jones pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl resulting in death and distributing fentanyl resulting in death. In October 2020, Jones and his co-conspirator, Kayla Nightingale were indicted by a federal grand jury.
Jones and Nightingale worked together from January 2019 through at least April 3, 2019 to distribute fentanyl in Wareham.
Nightingale pleaded guilty in August 2024, and is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 8, 2025.
