Wareham residents invited to plan for the future

May 10, 2017

Those interested in Wareham’s future, planning for both the good and the bad, are encouraged to attend upcoming workshops.

First, the topic of coastal resiliency will be tackled on May 17 and May 18. Questions such as “what should the town, residents and businesses do to prepare for coastal floods?” will be explored. Wareham is one of five towns in the country selected for this United States Environmental Protection Agency initiative.

An open public meeting is scheduled for May 17 starting at 6:30 p.m. in Town Hall, 54 Marion Road. An all-day workshop will be held on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Town Hall. Registration is required for the workshop. To register, contact the Planning Department at: jcampos@wareham.ma.us.

Those interested in finding out more about progress made on redeveloping the Tremont Nail Factory are encouraged to attend a meeting set for May 31 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium. At stake is the site’s future as officials entertain possibilities for the town-owned, 7.2-acre site. The Tremont Nail Company, which since 1819 had manufactured cut nails and other products, sold the site to Wareham in 2004.
