Wareham Tigers’ undefeated ‘Mites’ football team recognized by Select Board

Nov 23, 2021

After capping an undefeated season by winning the title of Superbowl Champions, the Wareham Tigers’ C-Squad “Mites” Football and Cheer teams finished off the season with Select Board recognition on Tuesday night.

During the board’s Nov. 23 meeting, Select Board Chair Judith Whiteside read a certificate of recognition for the teams into the record.

Reading the certificate, she said the team members should feel proud of their accomplishments and “the many hours you dedicated to practicing and training.”

“Your team has sent a positive example, for all of those who follow you,” she continued.

The certificate noted that the teams played seven games in the regular season and “the Mites won each one.”

“The Wareham Tigers Athletic Association’s Mites squad completed a perfect season with their victory over Hull,” Whiteside read. The Wareham Mites won the Superbowl game 20-8.

She finished, reading that the Select Board congratulated the team on its perfect season and becoming the Old Colony Youth Football League Division 5 Mites Superbowl Champions.

“We are proud of our Wareham Tigers, and the excellent leadership provided by the coaching staff,” reads the certificate.

The Wareham Tigers Mites Football and Cheer teams gathered at the Hammond School and appeared — together, via Zoom — at the Select Board meeting. After leading the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of the meeting, the team members cheered for their win and in appreciation for the board’s recognition.
