Wareham Weekend, December 4 -5

Dec 2, 2010

This coming weekend is chock full of holiday activities and fundraisers that will get the kids out of the house and get everybody into the holiday spirit. Rumor has it that Santa Claus will also be in multiple locations this weekend...so parents are forewarned!

Of course, you'll want to have a big meal to give you energy for the busy weekend. Start Saturday morning off with a pancake breakfast served up by the Wareham High School Winter Colorguard.  The event begins at 8 a.m. in the high school cafeteria. Tickets are $5 in advance, and $6 at the door. Two bikes will be raffled off, and kids can have their pictures taken with Santa's elves as well as the big elf himself.

Or if you're picturing a more serene atmosphere, The Children's Ministry of Onset Foursqaure Church will hold it's annual Angel Breakfast on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is for children ages 3-13, and kids are encouraged to dress up as angels with wings and all.

Then head over to Wareham Crossing or to Walmart because between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., the Wareham Police Department and the Community Police Partnership will be holding the "stuff a cruiser" toy drive at those locations. Donate some toys and make the holidays a little brighter for someone.  All toys will be donated to the Dick Melloni Memorial Christmas Toy Drive.

Also on Saturday, The Wareham Garden Club will hold its Annual Christmas Faire at 9 a.m. at the Fellowship Hall of the First Congregational Church. The theme this year is "A Gingerbread Christmas." Come and create holiday decorations from both fresh and dried plants! Admission is free, and the event should be a good time for both parents and kids.

If you are looking for a community-wide celebration, be sure to head over to Onset for The Onset Bay Association's annual Christmas in the Park celebration. Santa will be riding into town on a firetruck then visiting with kids at the Onset Fire Station.  Kids can also get their faces painted at the Sunrise Cafe or decorate a Christmas ornament at Eye of the Goddess. Be sure you warm up your voice for caroling through the streets of Onset.

On Sunday, December 5 give your voice a rest and let those of The Saints and Singers Chorus take over.  The chorus will perform "All Bow Down," a cantata for Christmas, at the First Congregational Church in Wareham at 4 p.m. Admission is free for all.

Happy Holidays!
