Cash Mob at Old Company Store

A nation-wide trend, the "cash mob," will be coming to the Old Company Store on Elm Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

A cash mob is a large group of people that descends en masse at a small business to shop and support the local economy.

Customers will be encouraged to pay in cash like the old days before credit cards ruled and cash was king. Anyone who makes a cash purchase will be entered into a raffle for one of three $25 gift certificates to the Little Red Smoke House in Carver.

But cash is not the only thing from the past at Saturday's event.

An antique car show and the 50's cover band Daddy-O will also be on hand to take customers back to the days of sock hops, drive-ins, and roller skating waitresses.

There will also be a vintage soda fountain, a selection of retro penny candy, the old-fashioned pickle barrel, and swan boats donated by A.D. Makepeace in the pond.

The Onset Youth Center will also have balloon animals and raffles to benefit its programs.

Radio Station FUN 107 will be broadcasting the festivities live with DJ Michael Rock. Attendees are encourage to "flash their cash" as FUN 107 makes a video of the event that they it will display on its website and Facebook page.
