Wayne S. “Bomba” Fernandes, 63, of Wareham, died Sunday, Feb. 28 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. He was the husband of Colleen R. (Joyce) Fernandes.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of the late Manuel & Eugenia “Jennie” A. (Baptiste) Fernandes. A lifelong resident of Wareham, Mr. Fernandes worked as a laborer in the construction industry. He also served as a Wareham Police auxiliary officer. Mr. Fernandes enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Colleen, of Wareham; his children, Heidi Fernandes, of North Attleboro, Wayne S. Fernandes, Jr., and his wife Michele, of South Attleboro, and Alicia Fernandes, of Providence, Rhode Island; his brother, Marshall Fernandes, of Wareham; his grandchildren, Tyler Fernandes, Nicholas Fernandes, Olivia Fernandes and Kasimira Freeman. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 3 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Interment will be in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
