WCTV live auction begins Friday
The Wareham Community Television (WCTV) Live Auction & Entertainment Weekend, a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club, Gianna's House, and the Onset Bay Association's Summer of Love music series, begins this Friday, May 20, at 6 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club.
Singer, comedian, impressionist, and Wareham summer resident Scott Record will emcee the two-day event, which will feature nightly entertainment and opportunities to bid on everything from gift baskets, antiques, and collectables to a professionally rebuilt 1988 Sea Ray Amberjack boat.
It's the second year WCTV has hosted the auction fundraiser, which organizer Sally Morrison says promises to be full of fun.
"It's free entertainment," Morrison explained. "And you can bid!"
The auction will broadcast live on Verizon channel 30, Comcast channel 9, and online at www.warehamtv.org. Bids will be accepted via phone and in-person. All bidders will be entered to win raffle prizes.
Organizers are hoping for a large studio audience at the Boys & Girls Club. There is no price for admission. Entertainers include Chops Wood and the Smokin' Hot Band, Aaron Norcross Jr., Teddy Mathews, the Sing-Along Singers, Kat Jones, Amber Crowley, and the Boys & Girls Club chorus.
Free refreshments will be provided for the live audience.
All of the money raised through the auction will go directly to the Boys & Girls Club, Gianna's House, and the Summer of Love music series. "None of the money goes to anything else except the nonprofits," Morrison said.
The auction will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight on Friday, May 20 and from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 21. For more information about the auction, including the various items up for bid and the nightly entertainment, visit www.warehamtv.org/auction.
