WCTV offers free public service announcements to nonprofits
Wareham Community Television is helping local nonprofits get their messages out, with an offer to produce a free public service announcement for any organization in need.
"We want to help [nonprofits] get more exposure," said WCTV Executive Director Jay Heard.
The announcements, which can be up to three minutes long, will air on the station's public channel (Verizon channel 30, Comcast channel 9).
More than a dozen organizations, from GATRA to the Wareham Free Library, have taken WCTV up on its offer.
"It's really a great thing, because a lot of these nonprofits haven't utilized WCTV, and one of our missions is to be a positive influence and a positive force in the community," Heard said.
The process began with a workshop at the station for the interested nonprofits. Participants learned about what goes into creating an announcement, and bounced production ideas off of each other.
"It was very cool to watch," said WCTV Technical Director Steve Ruiz, adding that the station would like to keep the project going.
Any nonprofit, whether or not a WCTV-member, can sign up for a free public service announcement. If interested, contact WCTV at 508-273-2340. Additionally, WCTV is always looking for members to create programming for its stations. For more information about becoming a member, call the station or visit www.warehamtv.org.
