"We are Wareham!" chant students at pep rally

Wareham High School students chanted "We are Wareham" at the top of their lungs at a high school pep rally to support the undefeated Vikings boys varsity basketball team and the Wareham students who qualified and won at the State Career Development Conference - a competition involving marketing students from Massachusetts high schools.
The rally was on the afternoon of March 12 at the Wareham High School gymnasium.
"C'mon Wareham, you've got champions in the house," said Cindy Sylvia, marketing professor and 1 of 3 advisers to the team of marketing students that competed.
"These guys are proud to be here," said Vikings head coach Kevin Briogoli. "I am proud to be from Wareham. [We have] people who care about each other, people who are tolerant," Brogioli said.
Brogioli asked the Wareham High School students to believe in their team and show their support at the upcoming semi-final game against Danvers at the State Division 3 Championships at TD Garden at 4:15 p.m. on the same day. "Believe we will give 100% effort today," Briogoli said, before leading the students to chant "I believe that we will win!"
Brogioli also mentioned the freshman boys basketball team, which went 18-0 in the season, and the junior varsity team, which went 17-1 for the season.
Students that qualified and won during the State Career Development Conference, a business leadership competition sponsored by the Distributive Education Clubs of America (a marketing association), were honored at the beginning of the rally.
There were 4 state winners from Wareham at the competition from March 8-10 in the Marriott Copley Hotel in Boston that featured over 2,000 contestants.
Wareham took a 1 first place prize, 2 second place prizes, and 1 third place prize. 53 students from Wareham qualified to go, but only 26 ended up going partly due to financial reasons, an issue that Sylvia would like to work on for next year.
The winners will participate in the international competition featuring over 20,000 contestants in April in Salt Lake City in Utah.
"They worked incredibly hard," said Sylvia after the rally. "Some of these students are more poised than some of the people who have been in the industry for years."
