Weather causes boat off Swifts Neck Beach to sink

May 20, 2011

Days of rainy weather, including an inch of accumulation overnight, took a toll on a moored boat off of Swifts Neck Beach on Friday and caused it to sink, officials said.

The Wareham Fire Department, Harbormaster Department, and Health Agent Robert Ethier responded to the scene.

Officials placed absorbent boom around the boat to absorb a small amount of oil that spilled.

The boat was towed to the Tempest Knob boat ramp by TowBoat U.S.
