This week in Little League
With one week remaining in the regular season, five Wareham Little League teams are battling for four playoff spots, and three teams still have a chance for the regular season championship.
One game separates South Wareham and West Wareham in the standings, with each team having three remaining games to play. The playoff matchups could still be very much in doubt as all the league teams play on Saturday, June 12.

June 5
East Wareham 3, Tremont 1
The young East Wareham team continued its late season charge as Tremont's bats could not find the answer to Jacob Juneau's strong arm. East scored two runs on Colin Horton's double in the third inning. Shane Cote went 2-for-2 and reached base three times. Sean Fagan crossed home on a passed ball in the fifth to give East an insurance run. David Doucette scored Tremont's lone run.
Meadowbrook 8, South Wareham 7
Zack Moretti led Meadowbrook with a three-run homer and closed the game on the mound by pitching the final three frames and striking out five while allowing only one run. Jayson White knocked in the game-winning run in extra innings with a sacrifice fly. BJ Texiera doubled and scored twice. Sean Kelso also scored twice for Meadowbrook
Brian Holmes and Geoffery Cardoza both pitched well for South Wareham keeping them in the game until the final at-bat in extra innings. Mike Houdlette walked and scored twice for South, including the tying run in the sixth to send the game to an extra frame. Catcher Eric Singleton had three singles, two runs scored, and allowed no stolen bases. Tanner Cannon reached contributed three RBI.
June 3
South Wareham 12 Tremont 10
South scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning and held on for a wild win over Tremont. Brian Holmes recorded his first-ever home run to lead South Wareham. It was matched by another first-ever dinger from Tremont's Thomas Cummings, a grand slam!
June 2
Meadowbrook 16, East Wareham 3
Noah Strawn pitched four strong innings for Meadowbrook, and chipped in offensively with a double and two runs scored. Tim Peterson had a double, single, two walks and two runs scored. Zack Moretti had two doubles and three runs scored. BJ Texiera had a double, three singles and four runs scored. Sean Kelso added three singles and three runs scored. Joe Fisher had two singles, two walks and two runs scored. Jayson White had a double, a single, and two RBIs.
Chad Kyle had two walks and two runs scored for East Wareham. Sean Fagan added a single and a walk the team. Shane Cote had a solid game behind the plate as well.
May 31
Meadowbrook 12, Wareham 0
Zack Moretti went the distance, firing a complete game, two-hit shutout for Meadowbrook. He yielded only one walk while striking out ten Wareham hitters.
Jayson White powered the Meadowbrook offense with a towering grand slam. Sean Kelso reached safely in all four plate appearances and scored three times. Joe Fisher added a double, single and two runs scored. Noah Strawn had two hits and a run. Isiah Gomes had a double and two runs scored. BJ Texiera added two runs for Meadowbrook.
Jonathan Warden had both of Wareham's hits.
