Weekly in print, daily online
I'm writing this on Tuesday morning -- probably later than I should be, considering that Editor Cyrus Moulton is already working to put this week's paper "to bed."
We'll hold some pages open to report this evening's Selectmen's meeting and the boys varsity basketball game, but the paper is pretty much done.
But that doesn't mean you have to wait seven days to find out what happens in Wareham and Onset between today and next Tuesday. If you want daily news about your town, go to www.WarehamVillageSoup.com. A couple of examples from the past week:
When the Friday 5 p.m. deadline passed without long-time Wareham educator and School Committee member Robert Brousseau taking out nomination papers to run for re-election, reporter Jaime Rebhan got on the phone. Those who visited www.WarehamVillageSoup.com on Saturday saw comments from Brousseau and others about his impending retirement from elective office.
Earlier in that week, as meteorologists were jumping out of their skins about the impending big storm, we geared up to cover the blizzard in real time. Jaime was out on Main Street with her video camera as the snow started to fall -- and online to post news of the snow emergency parking. As is often the case with big storm warnings in New England, it was the Big Storm That Wasn't. But there will be a next time, with a real storm, and you will be able to visit www.WarehamVillageSoup.com to find out about it.
And, of course, there are stories that just cannot be adequately told in print. On the day before Valentine's Day, Jaime took her camera to A Wareham Florist to witness the chaos. The result was online for Valentine's Day. Words in a paper five days later just couldn't have done that story justice!
