Wharfside: Two Centuries of Industry will explore the history of the Lower Narrows

Apr 1, 2013

Come to the Wareham Free Library Meeting Room April 9 at 6:30 p.m. to learn about the long and storied history of Wareham's Lower Narrows District.

The Lower Narrows District  is centrally located allowing it to provide access from Buzzard's Bay into Wareham Harbor, bolstering the local economy.

It also left Wareham open to attack by the British during the War of 1812.

Wharfside: Two Centuries of Industry, will be presented by Linda Ames, and will focus on businesses that have operated in the Lower Narrows including Franconia Iron and Steel, the New Bedford and Onset Street Railway, British Landing Condominiums, and more.

The presentation will include maps and illustrations from the Wareham Free Library archives, as well as rare pictures from private collections.
