William A. “Biff” Goyette, 69
William A. “Biff” Goyette, 69, of Wareham, died Monday, February 21, 2011. He was the husband of Lorrain Goyette and son of the late William and Mary (Gruntmeyer) Goyette. He was a lifelong resident of Wareham and owned and operated the Mill Pond Diner and the Mill Pond Food Service catering company for more nearly 40 years.
Mr. Goyette graduated from Wareham High School in 1959 and served as a medic in the armed services following his graduation. He then went on to become a line foreman for the telephone company before purchasing the Mill Pond Diner. He also was the food service manager at the Bay Pointe Country Club for more than 25 years.
Biff was also known as both an outstanding golfer and dancer, and in his spare time liked to read and spend time working in his yard. He was very active in the community and was a longtime member of the Elks.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William Goyette of Fall River; a daughter, Michelle Goyette of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a stepdaughter, Wendy McLean Wentworth; three sisters, Genevieve Aldred, Geraldine Souza and Paula Billard; two grandchildren, Henry Wentworth and Audrey Wentworth; and his beloved rottweiler, Tasha.
A celebration of his life will take place Saturday, March 19 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge at 2855 Cranberry Highway in Wareham.
It was Biff's wish that his catering business remain in operation after his passing. His wife, Lorrain, along with Mill Pond Diner chefs Tim Weisberg and Matthew Costa, will continue to run both the diner and the catering company.
